Short answer

WATI costs $59–$279 a month billed yearly, and its rate card charges about 60% more than Meta's list price for marketing messages on the Growth and Pro plans. For AI answers on WhatsApp plus a CRM at one team price, try CRMsoftware.pro (from $19 a month for 8 users; no WhatsApp broadcast campaigns). For an omnichannel inbox that passes Meta's fees through at cost, respond.io. For WhatsApp and Instagram with AI agents, SleekFlow. For low-cost campaigns, AiSensy (India) or Interakt (unlimited agents). For AI lead qualification, Gallabox. For Shopify stores, Zoko. For European teams, Trengo. For Instagram-first automation, ManyChat.

We checked every price on the vendor's own pricing page on October 13, 2026, from a US location, billed yearly unless we say otherwise, before tax. WhatsApp message fees come from Meta's official rate card, effective October 1, 2026. CRMsoftware.pro is our own product, so we list its limits too. No made-up scores or tests: each tool gets its real price, its pros and cons, and who it suits.

What WhatsApp messages cost: Meta versus WATI

Meta has charged per delivered message since July 1, 2025, by category and the customer's country. Since October 1, 2026, replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are charged too: each WhatsApp business number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and Meta charges from the 1,001st. Messages from customers are free. If a customer writes from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad on their phone and you reply within 24 hours, Meta opens a free entry point window of up to 7 days in which your messages are free (Meta Business Agent messages are still charged). Meta can change its rates on the first day of each quarter.

WATI bills these messages through its own rate card, which on October 1, 2026 was higher than Meta's list rates:

Marketing message toMeta list rateWATI Growth and ProWATI Business
United States$0.0250$0.0400$0.0355
United Kingdom$0.0635$0.1016$0.0902
Germany$0.1365$0.2184$0.1938
Spain$0.0707$0.1131$0.1004
Brazil$0.0625$0.1000$0.0888
India$0.0118$0.0189$0.0168

Utility and service messages cost more too, by different margins: to US numbers, a utility template is $0.0034 at Meta's list rate and $0.0061 on WATI Growth and Pro, and a paid service reply $0.0034 against $0.0041. For a month with 5,000 marketing messages and 3,000 service replies to US customers, Meta's list rates come to $131.80 (5,000 × $0.025 + 2,000 paid replies × $0.0034). The same month costs $208.20 on WATI Growth or Pro and $184.70 on WATI Business, before the plan fee.

Why teams look for a WATI alternative

  • Message fees above Meta's list price. On Growth and Pro, WATI's marketing rate is about 1.6 times Meta's in every country in the table above.
  • The user limits. Growth includes 3 users and cannot add more, so a team of 5 starts at Pro ($119), and every user beyond 5 costs $39 a month on Pro or $89 on Business.
  • AI costs extra. The plans include 250 to 1,500 AI Co-pilot credits for agents, but Astra, the AI agent that answers customers, is a separate add-on.
  • Usage caps. Automation triggers and AI credits run out at set amounts each month, and top-ups are paid.
  • Replies now cost money. With service messages charged after 1,000 a month per number, busy support numbers pay for every reply beyond the first 1,000, which makes WATI's rate card matter even more.

What a 5-person team pays for the platform

One realistic setup: 5 people share one WhatsApp number, send monthly broadcasts, and an AI agent answers 500 chats a month (about 1,500 AI messages at roughly 3 per chat) and fully resolves 300. Plan fee only, billed yearly where the vendor offers it, on the cheapest plan that fits. WhatsApp message fees (Meta's or the vendor's rate card) come on top for every tool, as shown above, and respond.io, SleekFlow and ManyChat cost more if your broadcasts reach more contacts than the tier shown.

Tool and planHow the bill adds upMonthly platform fee
CRMsoftware.pro Growth$49 flat for 20 users and 3,000 AI messages, enough for the 1,500 needed. No WhatsApp broadcast campaigns$49
ManyChat Business$69 for 5 users and 7,500 active contacts, Manychat AI included$69
WATI Pro$119 for 5 users; the Astra AI agent is a separate add-on$119 + Astra
Zoko PlusPlus rather than Starter, which adds $0.015 to every conversation: $79.99 for 5 agents + AI agent $24.99 + 200 resolutions beyond the 100 free × $0.09 = $18$122.98
SleekFlow Pro$109 for 10 users with AI agents and broadcasts + $15 WhatsApp number fee$124
Interakt Growth$41.58 ($499 a year) + WhatsApp AI agents $75 ($899.99 a year, 100 AI messages included) + 1,400 more AI messages × $0.011 = $15.40$131.98
respond.io Growth$159 for 10 users and 10,000 AI credits, at 1,000 monthly active contacts$159
Gallabox Essential$248 for 6 users, AI agents on WhatsApp and 2,000 AI credits$248
Trengo Boost€299 for 10 users and 6,000 conversations a year + AI surcharge 500 × €0.25 = €125; broadcasting is a paid add-on€424 + broadcasting
AiSensy Basic₹1,350 (1 owner + 5 agents) + AI agent ₹1,215 for 1,000 AI messages, both billed yearly; more AI messages cost extra₹2,565 + extra AI messages

Plan fees are only half the bill. A team that sends 5,000 marketing messages a month to US customers pays $125 to Meta at list rates and $200 at WATI's Growth and Pro rate, so a cheaper plan with WATI's rate card can still cost more. Before you switch, ask each vendor for its rate card for your customers' countries and compare it with Meta's. Try our free AI chatbot pricing calculator to size the AI side of the bill.

The 9 best WATI alternatives

1. CRMsoftware.pro: best for AI answers on WhatsApp plus a CRM

CRMsoftware.pro homepage: an AI agent answers on website chat, email, WhatsApp, Slack and Telegram and adds each conversation to the pipeline
CRMsoftware.pro homepage, October 2026.

CRMsoftware.pro is our product, so judge this section with that in mind. It is not a WhatsApp broadcast tool: it is an AI agent and team inbox for the conversations customers start. The AI answers on WhatsApp, your website, email, Telegram and Slack, hands over to a person, and every conversation becomes a contact and a deal in the CRM pipeline, with bookings and AI voice in the same product.

Price (Oct 13, 2026): Free for 3 users and 100 AI messages a month on website chat (AI only: no human handover or unified inbox). Launch $19/mo billed yearly ($24 monthly) for 8 users, 1,000 AI messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Messenger and Slack, human handover and a unified inbox. Growth $49 ($59) for 20 users, 3,000 AI messages, team inbox with saved replies and auto-translation. Scale $99 ($119) for 50 users and 10,000 AI messages.

Pros: flat price for the whole team; AI messages included, with no per-user or per-resolution fees; CRM pipeline, bookings and AI voice built in.

Best for: sales and support teams that use WhatsApp for inbound questions and want AI answers and a CRM in one bill.

Free WATI alternatives

WATI has no free plan. These are the free options that matter on October 13, 2026:

ToolFree planCatch
AiSensyWhatsApp API, Blue Tick application, ads manager with 1,000 free Meta ad credits, ₹50 message creditNo broadcasting; India-focused
ManyChat25 active contacts, 2 channelsVery small; ManyChat branding
CRMsoftware.pro3 users, 100 AI messages a monthWebsite chat only; WhatsApp needs Launch ($19)

Meta's 1,000 free service messages per number apply on every platform, free plan or not.

When to stay on WATI

  • You use its marketing tools every day. Click-to-WhatsApp ads, Shopify templates, catalogs and broadcast analytics are WATI's strength.
  • Most of your messages go to India. Rates there are low, so the gap is small in money: 5,000 marketing messages to Indian numbers cost about $36 more on WATI Growth or Pro than at Meta's list rate, against $75 more for US numbers and about $410 more for Germany.
  • You are on Business with high volume. Business rates are lower than Growth and Pro, and WATI offers volume discounts above 1 million messages a month.

How to choose

  • Split your traffic. If most messages are broadcasts, compare rate cards first. If most are customers writing to you, compare AI and inbox costs, and remember the 1,000 free service messages per number.
  • Ask for the rate card for your countries. respond.io passes Meta's fees through at cost; WATI and SleekFlow bill by their own rate cards; Gallabox adds a markup; Zoko publishes its markup.
  • Count users and contacts. WATI and Gallabox cap users per plan; respond.io (Growth and up), SleekFlow (Pro and up) and ManyChat charge by active contacts; Interakt and Zoko Starter include unlimited agents.
  • Check where the AI lives. Astra (WATI), AiSensy, Interakt and Zoko sell AI agents as add-ons; SleekFlow, Gallabox and respond.io include AI on higher plans; CRMsoftware.pro includes AI messages in every plan.
  • Use the free trial (7 days at most vendors here) with a test number before you move your main number. Our WhatsApp Business setup checklist covers opt-in, the 24-hour window and a first-chat test.

How to switch from WATI and keep your number

  1. Keep the same number. Meta lets you move a business number to another provider's WhatsApp Business Account. The display name, quality rating, messaging limit and Official Business Account status move with it. If your account is already on Meta's new WhatsApp account model, rolling out in 2026, you can add or change providers without migrating the number; ask the new provider which applies to you.
  2. Turn off two-step verification on the number in WhatsApp Manager, or ask WATI to do it; the move cannot finish while it is on.
  3. Check your templates. Only approved templates with a green quality rating are copied to the new account, and Meta checks them again, so some may be rejected; recreate and resubmit the rest. Our WhatsApp broadcast templates help with the wording.
  4. Export contacts and tags from WATI before you cancel, and rebuild chatbot flows and handover rules; our human handover playbook and FAQ knowledge base starter help set up the AI.
  5. Plan the cut-over. Registering the number with the new provider is instant, so messages keep flowing, but copied templates can't be used until copying finishes; ask the new provider to start the template migration before registration. Messages before the move are billed by WATI, after it by the new provider.

FAQ

What is the best WATI alternative?

For transparent WhatsApp fees and an omnichannel inbox, respond.io. For WhatsApp and Instagram with AI agents, SleekFlow. For India on a budget, AiSensy or Interakt. For Shopify, Zoko. For AI answers and a CRM at one team price, CRMsoftware.pro, if you do not need WhatsApp broadcasts.

How much does WATI cost in 2026?

On October 13, 2026 (US page): Growth $59 a month billed yearly ($69 monthly) for 3 users, Pro $119 ($149) for 5 users plus $39 per extra user, and Business $279 ($349) for 5 users plus $89 per extra user. WhatsApp messages are charged on top by WATI's rate card, and the Astra AI agent is a separate add-on.

Does WATI charge more than Meta for messages?

Yes, on its October 1, 2026 rate card. A marketing message to a US number is $0.0400 on Growth and Pro and $0.0355 on Business, against Meta's list rate of $0.025; the gap is similar in the UK, Germany, Spain, Brazil and India.

Which WATI alternative has no markup on WhatsApp fees?

respond.io says WhatsApp fees pass through from Meta at cost with no markup. Zoko has no markup up to 5,000 conversations on Plus and 100,000 on Elite, Interakt lists no template markups on Enterprise, and Trengo lists WhatsApp service conversations as free.

Are WhatsApp service messages still free?

Partly. Since October 1, 2026, Meta gives each business number 1,000 free service messages a month and charges from the 1,001st, for example $0.0034 per message to North America at list rates. Messages in the free entry point window after a Click-to-WhatsApp ad stay free.

Is there a free WATI alternative?

AiSensy has a Free Forever plan without broadcasting, ManyChat is free for 25 active contacts, and CRMsoftware.pro is free for 3 users on website chat. WATI itself offers a 7-day trial.

Can I keep my WhatsApp number if I leave WATI?

Yes. Meta supports moving a business number to another provider. Turn off two-step verification first; the display name, quality rating and messaging limit move with the number, and approved templates with a green rating are copied.

Is WATI good for small teams?

For up to 3 people who mainly send campaigns, Growth at $59 is reasonable. From 4 people you need Pro at $119, and AI agents cost extra, so small teams that mostly answer customers often pay less elsewhere.
